Principal's Welcome

Dear parents and friends of Hollybush,

As the newly appointed Principal of Hollybush PS I extend a warm welcome and thank you for visiting our school’s website. I am deeply honoured and humbled to be joining such a wonderful school community located in such a picturesque setting overlooking the Foyle. I look forward to working alongside pupils, staff, parents and BOG whilst continuing to lead, maintain and grow closer links between school, home and all within the greater Culmore community.

The key role of the Hollybush team is serving the needs of the children and ensuring that the children will always come first within our school. As Principal of Hollybush I will uphold, safeguard and maintain this core strength and quality.

Hollybush is a Catholic school. We are committed to reflecting Jesus’ teaching not only in all our pupils but in every member of our strong school community. Together we live out what it means to be Catholic by supporting each other to “see the good in and to draw the best out of” everyone. Our school motto Bonum Videre Optimum Educere applies to us all. It is integral to our Catholic faith demonstrated by the choices we make and how we openly welcome and actively respect other faiths as an inclusive mutually respecting school.

Together we will continue to uphold the rich prestigious history of Hollybush, which opened in 1891, by consistently and purposefully achieving high standards for all of our pupils in all areas of their primary school life.

Our aim is to ensure that all children are provided with the values, skills, knowledge, and abilities that will develop them not only academically but spiritually, emotionally, physically, socially, and morally. We want our children to achieve their best and live happy, successful contented lives that positively shape them into well rounded citizens for our future society.

It is our hope that when all our children leave Hollybush they are equipped to deal with everything that life presents to them and to know that achieving their personal best becomes so much easier when they make Jesus central to their life’s journey.

A child’s journey through school is uniquely supported by their first teachers, their parents. We look forward to working in partnership with parents and ensuring that all our joint efforts from school and home are child centred which undoubtedly ensures long term success.

My thanks to all who contribute to the formation and regular updating of this website which helps strengthen our communications with parents and the wider community. We look forward to celebrating many school achievements and creating lots of happy memories for everyone associated with our beautiful school.

I look forward to meeting you all in person and working together to ensure we have a safe, happy, healthy, and successful year ahead.

My kind regards,

Ms Duggan
